Body Lift (Belt Lipectomy)
The body lift procedure is typically recommended for patients after massive weight loss. This procedure removes excess fatty tissue and skin from around the entire trunk, including the abdomen, flanks, hips, back, buttocks and thighs. The result is a dramatic improvement in contours through “lifting and tightening” in a circumferential fashion.
Reshaping the Body
A body lift, also known as a circumferential tummy tuck or belt lipectomy, can offer long-lasting and life changing results for those who have already taken the first step by shedding excess weight. BODY LIFT – BEFORE & AFTER
Body Lift FAQ
Who is a candidate for a body lift procedure?
A body lift (circumferential tummy tuck) is typically indicated for patients who have excess body skin, normally following significant weight loss or post gastric bypass surgery. This procedure addresses loose and sagging skin around the entire trunk, and even the buttocks and thighs.
The intended results include: a smoother, flatter abdomen; buttock tightening; diminishing of thigh cellulite; and removal of back rolls or excess back skin.
What is Body Lift surgery and recovery like?
Monitored Anesthesia Care is usually used for safety and comfort. Excess skin is removed from back, belly, buttocks and thighs as necessary.
Body Lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia either within the hospital or in an outpatient surgery center. Although the surgical sequence varies depending on the needs of each patient, we will usually treat the belly first, by removing the excess skin from the belly button down to the pubic area. The abdominal wall muscle, which is deep under the skin and fat of the belly, is then tightened. The fat and skin above the belly button is then stretched down to the pubic area and sutured in place. A new opening is made to allow the belly button to be brought through, to its correct position. Next, the patient is turned to the side and the excess skin and fat from the side to the mid back is removed. This part of the operation reduces and lifts the outer thighs. As the skin and fat are removed from the back, the back rolls are reduced and the buttocks are lifted.
The body lift can be one of the more uncomfortable procedures, and probably requires a substantial amount of recovery time. One to three days of care in the hospital or skilled nursing care facility is usually indicated.
Additional procedures which may enhance the result are Breast Reduction and Breast Lift.
How much does a Body Lift cost in Houston?
Because every patient’s concerns and desires are unique, we recommend that you schedule a consultation with Dr. Jaffer. At the time of your consultation, a treatment plan will be proposed. With those variables identified, it will then be possible to estimate the costs associated with your body lift/belt lipectomy procedure.
