BOTCHED

Avoid a Botched Plastic Surgery Procedure

By now most of us are familiar with the term “botched”; there is even a highly rated TV series of the same name dedicated to plastic surgery gone terribly wrong.

We’ve all seen the pictures of celebrities who have taken the “pursuit of perfection” a step too far. We’ve watched as everyday people have become celebrities for no other reason than their outrageous plastic surgery exploits. We’ve read the news stories about those who have given their lives in exchange for the chance of a slimmer body. In fact, you may know someone who is living a plastic surgery nightmare right now.

The competition for attracting patients is fierce today with websites, support groups, and social media accounts promoting “Botched”, “Dr. Miami” or “Dr. Pimple Popper.” Plastic surgery has become trendy and fashionable – no longer something only for the rich and famous. Nowadays, procedures are much more affordable and available worldwide. Some individuals considering plastic surgery are even willing to take their chances at cheap plastic surgery in countries like Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Korea, just to name a few.  What they don’t take into account is that often these surgeons perform multiple procedures at the same time without considering the health risks to the patient. While a “package deal” may sound too good to pass up, many have returned home battling severe infections or even dying as a result of complications. Plastic Surgeons in the U.S. must adhere to very strict regulations, but because of little oversight abroad, many who take bargain shop for cosmetic procedures are dealing with plastic surgery disasters right now.

According to the latest reports, there are currently tens of thousands of surgery patients emotionally traumatized from a “botched” surgical procedure. These patients experience  a myriad of  emotions as a result of their circumstances:

  • Shame – “How could I let this happen to me?”
  • Regret – “I never should have done this.”
  • Hopelessness – “I will never be normal again.”
  • Isolated and Alone – “No one will ever want me looking the way I do.”
  • Helpless – “Where do I go for help? Is there any doctor out there that I can trust to give me my life back?”

Dr. Jaffer has the answers to all those questions. 1. The pictures at the top of this page are me, and I can barely stand to look at the before picture even today. A friend had given me the gift of a lifetime, a tummy tuck and liposuction. I was so excited when I had it done. But I knew within a few weeks that something was wrong, my body was not healing and I began to get sick. After numerous visits to the surgeon, my incision was open and even on oral antibiotics I couldn’t shake the fever.

My daughter-in-law found Dr. Jaffer who saw me immediately. He was very honest and told me how we needed to proceed. I was in surgery the next day. I had a bacteria that came from another country that had been with me since the initial surgery. I thank God every day for Dr. Jaffer, he literally saved my life and continues to be there for me. Even though the physical scars are healed, I still struggle with the emotional scars. Dr. Jaffer and his staff are incredible, they go above and beyond for all their patients.
